Our handmade large brown bison/buffalo head sculpture is built upon a lightweight mixed media base. When our artist Merikay discovered this wonderful shaggy, brown man-made fur in a small shop in San Francisco, it inspired her to create this buffalo design. Merikay hand makes the horns, eyes, and nose using a variety of materials. The buffalo is ready to hang on the wall of your “home on the range”, or that of your favorite bison aficionado! It is larger and more realistic than our classic brown buffalo shown below. You can order either of our large buffalo/bison designs in brown or white, with or without a wood panel. Dimensions and weight shown below include the panel.

About Bison/Buffalo
The American Bison, more popularly the buffalo, ranged in huge herds in the North American West through much of the 19th century. This imposing beast can weigh up to 1800 pounds (800 Kg), but was almost exterminated by the US westward expansion between 1840 and 1900. Buffalo now enjoy a modest increase in numbers in North American farms, parks, and refuges.

Our artist Merikay creates the coat of this large white bison/buffalo head sculpture using a shaggy man-made fur. Although not pictured here, she gives every one of her buffalo sculptures a removable feather accent. A wooden back panel may also be ordered. Merikay makes his horns, eyes, and nose and base sculpture as for her other animals. But instead of using man-made fur, she creates this buffalo’s coat by sewing many layers of sheep’s wool onto fabric base pieces. Then she dyes, dries, brushes, and attaches them. This shaggy, lovable creature is ready to hang on the wall of your home, office, or cabin, or that of your favorite buffalo lover!
