How to Get a Head Without Hunting
Large Elephant Head Sculpture
You will be impressed by the attention to detail and astonishing character of this elephant head sculpture.

Our artist Merikay creates the skin of our large elephant head sculpture using multiple layers of muslin and thin paper. She achieves a pretty accurate color and texture by first applying a base paint coat, followed by a series of thinner paint washes. She also makes the tusks, the eyes, and the supporting base sculpture by hand.

The techniques used on this elephant were developed in response to the commission for our huge elephant.

About Elephants
Elephants are found in Africa and Asia. They are the largest land animal and are quite intelligent. While few would call such a magnificent creature “domesticated”, some elephants do work with people in their endeavors.
Medium Fur Elephant Head Sculpture
One of these happy fellows will inspire lots of conversation in any jungle domain.

This medium elephant head sculpture is made with many of the same techniques as the large elephant. Both have long eyelashes accenting their handmade eyes. The upturned trunk is an ancient symbol of good luck.

This exclusive design includes a built in hook for easy hanging in your home or office.

Huge Elephant Head with artist
In spring of 2003, a man in Florida asked our artist Merikay if she could make a “full-size realistic elephant for his safari decor”. Our huge elephant shown at right is the result. His home, like almost anyone’s, could not support a truly full-sized elephant head. This one is about half-sized. Merikay is the one on the right.

Our huge elephant head sculpture is much larger than our other two sizes. The skin is made by layering glue soaked muslin with layers of thin paper. This elephant’s wrinkles have wrinkles! The strong, lightweight base and the tusks are also handmade. The ears and tusks detach for shipment, so some assembly is required.

This is by far the largest and most expensive of our creations. Please allow up to 8 weeks for completion.

Obviously this item is not for everyone, but if you’re intrigued by the idea of a sizable safari-like elephant trophy in your home, business, or getaway-place, please call, email, or use our Contact page to explore the idea further.
