“I love your dragons. They are so inspirational and just wonderful to see. As an artist I see all the love you put into them. Thank you for sharing with us.”

Hatchling Dragons

How to Get a Head Without Hunting
Hatchling dragons may be ordered in many colors. See our Winged Dragons, Hoard Dragons and Grand Dragons for some of the possibilities. If you see a color you like, make note of it in the “Notes and Special Instructions” field of our order form.

Call or email to see what’s available, or to discuss your “dream dragon”.
Old Gold Hatchling Dragon Head Sculpture
This is our old gold hatchling dragon sculpture. To create the dragon, our artist Merikay carefully layers cut fabric scales over a handmade paper-maché base. She uses large round acrylic “gems” for his eyes, and builds the three dimensional egg to hang flat on a wall.

About Hatchling Dragons
In Anne McCaffrey’s Pern books, a human who was present at the hatching of a dragon might impress it, that is, form a lifetime bond with it. I have seen similar bonding many times at art and craft festivals. Customers have walked into my booth, ignoring all of the other creatures, and have been “impressed” by a particular hatchling. I likes to think of such transactions as adoptions rather than sales.
Gold Hatchling Dragon Head Sculpture
Here’s our gold hatchling dragon head sculpture, which seems to be just hatching from its handmade egg. It is covered with hand-cut fabric skin and scales, the colors of which are more genteel than its old gold cousin. Its eyes are commercial acrylic crystals that can glow brilliantly in the right lighting.

Each hatchling dragon is unique. This one has been sold, but we have more of the fabrics used to create him.
