How to Get a Head Without Hunting
Lion Head Sculpture
It’s safe to keep zebras and gazelles in the same room with this very realistic lion head sculpture. His teeth are not real!

Our artist Merikay builds a paper-maché supporting sculpture for my large realistic lion head. She uses only man-made furs in his construction, and hand makes his eyes and nose. But his teeth and tongue are a commercial taxidermy “jaw set”. The distinctive finishing touch is the carefully cut and layered fur for his mane.

Our first realistic lion was done on commission from a bar owner in New York. He wanted a lion that was less cuddly than our former version.

Lions are the mascots for many teams and schools. What is your mascot animal? Merikay might be able to use the logo of your team as a starting point for your special animal head commission.

About Lions
The Lion has long been called the “King of the Beasts”. Currently their range is limited to reserves and parks in Africa. Male lions are considerably larger than females, weighing up to 530 pounds (240 Kg.) and standing up to 4 feet (1.2 m) at the shoulder.

Lions are fully carnivorous, with females being the hunters while the males’ role mostly involves fighting off other males, plus helping to eat what the females catch.
Other cats that we offer include a Black Panther, Bobcat, Caracal, Cheetah, Cougar/Mountain Lion/Puma, Leopard, Lynx, Serval, and Tigers.

If you have comments, suggestions, or questions, please send an E-mail to merikay@animalhead.com, use the contact page, sign the Guestbook, or call at 1-408-353-5037. Is this a good time?
