How to Get a Head Without Hunting
We
inherited Sarah from our son Gil.
She spent many apparently happy years with us, first as Odie’s
friend and protege, then as friend and mentor to Picabo.
In 2006 we learned that she a sizable tumor in a back leg, but declined to have
it biopsied, figuring that 3-leggedness was too hard a trick to learn for such
an old dog. She coped with such problems valiantly, with the help of a medication
called Rimadyl. In the first week of
June 2007 she was still out chasing off trespassing coyotes.
But on the morning of June 10, 2007 she could not answer the morning bell.
Merikay took her to the vet, who said she had tumors everywhere.
Picabo did not know how to eat for weeks thereafter, because eating
had always been such a competitive event between them.
