Our 2010 tiger head
sculpture is built upon a handmade, lightweight base, covered with several kinds of
faux fur. Its eyes and nose are also handmade, and the teeth are a hand painted
taxidermy “jaw set”.
This design is a friendlier version of our realistic tiger pictured below.
The main difference is that (like most of our designs) its eyes are slightly larger
than life-sized.
This tiger would be a happy mascot for a team or business.
GO TIGERS!
About Tigers
Tigers are found in India, Manchuria, China, and Indonesia. They are the
largest cats, weighing up to 850 pounds (385 Kg), and are among the animals most
endangered by mankind’s expansion.
Smaller eyes give our second realistic tiger a “more ferocious” look.
Several kinds of faux fur are carefully cut and layered to create the detailed markings.
Its eyes and nose are also handmade. The teeth are a hand painted taxidermy “jaw set”.
We
call this more gentle, closed mouth tiger, our rust colored tiger head sculpture.
Our artist Merikay creates the striped markings by carefully cutting three colors of man-made
fur and attaching it to a handmade base. Her techniques for making big cat noses has evolved
since this and the picture below were taken. She now create the noses using polymer clay,
as shown on the realistic tigers above.
Let this tiger’s tranquil demeanor enhance your home or office, or that of your favorite tiger fan!
This
handcrafted blue-eyed white tiger head sculpture is
far less ferocious than the tigers in Las Vegas. It will make a sharp addition
to a room with jungle decor. It will also fit well into any home or office inhabited
by a tiger lover!
A
bit of history: this is a picture of our artist Merikay’s first
animal from 1974. It was crocheted and soft-stuffed. We still have it! It is not
for sale.
If you crochet, please see our books
on crocheting several kinds of animal heads and soft-stuffed birds.
